Wilfred “Bill” C. Bussing III is an Evansville, Indiana attorney, businessman and community leader best known as the longtime owner of the Evansville Otters professional baseball team. Bussing was born and raised in Evansville and graduated from the University of Evansville in 1977 with a degree in communication. He later earned master’s, MBA and law degrees from the University of Notre Dame and returned to Evansville, where he established a law practice specializing in estate planning.
Bussing and his family have owned the Evansville Otters since 2001. He has also served on the University of Evansville Board of Trustees since 1999 and has been involved with numerous local civic and charitable organizations. Bussing was inducted into the Evansville Regional Business Hall of Fame and received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the University of Evansville in 2023. In 2025, he was inducted into the Indiana Academy in recognition of his contributions to higher education, philanthropy and the Evansville community.
