Shelly (Brand) Adlard is an Evansville, Indiana native and former basketball player who was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. She was also the first women’s basketball player inducted into the University of Evansville Athletic Hall of Fame.

Basketball career

Adlard attended F.J. Reitz High School, where she led the Panthers to the 1981 Indiana state championship. She was named state tournament MVP after scoring 31 points in Reitz’s 74–47 championship-game victory. As a senior, she earned all-city, all-SIAC and all-state honors and was selected to the 1981 Indiana All-Star team.

Adlard continued her career at the University of Evansville, where she became one of the most accomplished players in program history. She finished her career with 1,713 points and set school records in several statistical categories. During the 1983–84 season, she led the nation in free-throw percentage at 90%.

She later became the first women’s basketball player inducted into the University of Evansville Athletic Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.
