Elijah Dunham (born May 29, 1998) is an American professional baseball outfielder from Evansville, Indiana. A graduate of F.J. Reitz High School, Dunham played college baseball at Indiana University before beginning his professional career in the New York Yankees organization.

Reitz High School

Dunham was a standout three-sport athlete at Reitz, competing in baseball, basketball and football.

As a senior, he hit .386 with a .541 on-base percentage and 26 stolen bases. He was rated as one of Indiana’s top high school outfielders and earned all-conference honors.

Dunham was also an accomplished football player, earning all-state honors during his junior and senior seasons. During his time at Reitz, he became the school’s only athlete to be part of sectional championship teams in football, basketball and baseball.

He graduated from Reitz in 2017.

Indiana University

Dunham continued his baseball career at Indiana University, playing for the Hoosiers from 2018 through 2020.

His breakout season came in 2019, when he hit .310 with eight home runs and earned Third-Team All-Big Ten honors. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected him in the 40th round of the 2019 MLB Draft, but Dunham chose to return to Indiana.

In the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, Dunham was hitting .390 through 15 games when the season was canceled. He finished his Indiana career with a .312 batting average in 94 games.

Professional Baseball

After going undrafted in the shortened 2020 MLB Draft, Dunham signed with the New York Yankees as a free agent.

He made his professional debut in 2021 and quickly emerged as a prospect in the Yankees organization. That fall, Dunham starred in the Arizona Fall League, batting .357 and leading the league with 11 stolen bases. He was named an Arizona Fall League Rising Star and its Breakout Player of the Year.

Dunham advanced through the Yankees’ minor league system, reaching Triple-A during his time with the organization.

After missing the 2025 season with an Achilles injury, Dunham signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels organization in December 2025 and returned to professional baseball in 2026.

Evansville Connection

Dunham was born and raised in Evansville and began playing baseball locally as a child before becoming one of the most accomplished multi-sport athletes in recent Reitz High School history.

His career has taken him from the Reitz Panthers to Indiana University and professional baseball, making him one of the notable athletes produced by Evansville’s West Side.
