Brian Claybourn (born October 21, 1981) is an American former professional football punter and placekicker from Evansville, Indiana. Claybourn played for the Canadian Football league after playing college at Western Kentucky University. Claybourn went to Reitz High School.

Early Life and High School

Claybourn was a standout punter and kicker at FJ Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana. As a punter during his senior year, he averaged 37 yards per kick with nine downed inside the 10-yard line. His junior year, he also averaged 37 yards per kick with a long kick of 59 yards. He was named all-state, all-area, all-metro, all-conference, and all-city as a high school punter.

He is a member of the Reitz Football Hall of Fame Class of 2008.

College Career

As a senior at WKU, he posted the best single-season punting performance in school history with a 43.4 yard average, making him one of the nation’s leading kickers. He finished his career second all-time at WKU with 9,237 yards, 226 punts, and an average of 40.87 yards per kick. As a team captain, he helped lead the team to a Division I-AA national championship in 2003 and an No. 11 ranking in the 2004 final national polls. Claybourn was a third-team All-America selection by The Sports Network and Associated Press, also earning first-team all-Gateway Football Conference accolades. 

Professional Career

In 2005, Claybourn signed with the San Diego Chargers. After failing to sign with the Chargers, Claybourn had a workout with the Dallas Cowboys. He signed in 2006 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.
