Jamey Blake Carroll (born February 18, 1974) is a former Major League Baseball infielder who was born in Evansville, Indiana. Carroll played 12 seasons in the major leagues from 2002 to 2013.

Early life and Evansville career

Carroll was born in Evansville and graduated from Castle High School in nearby Newburgh in 1992. He continued his baseball career at the University of Evansville, where he played for the Purple Aces under head coach Jim Brownlee.

The Montreal Expos selected Carroll in the 14th round of the 1996 Major League Baseball Draft.

Major League career

Carroll made his MLB debut with Montreal on September 11, 2002. In 2004, he scored the final run in Montreal Expos history before the franchise relocated to Washington, D.C.

Carroll later played for the Washington Nationals, Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals.

One of his most memorable moments came with Colorado in 2007, when his sacrifice fly scored Matt Holliday with the winning run in the 13th inning of the National League Wild Card tiebreaker against the San Diego Padres. The victory sent Colorado to the playoffs, where the Rockies eventually advanced to the World Series.

Carroll retired following the 2013 season, finishing his MLB career with more than 1,000 games played and 1,000 hits.
